Siargao Island | Short Trip

Have you been thinking to take a break from the city life and have a good dose of Vitamin Sea? Take a break from your usual routine and head yourself to Siargao Island.



Siargao Island, known as the surfing capital of the Philippines is located in the province of Surigao Del Norte. With its enticing waves of the place, beautiful Islands and enchanting lagoons, you will be surely captivated.

HOW TO GET TO SIARGAO?

FROM DAVAO CITY:
*If you are into a long road trip,  take a bus at Ecoland Terminal bound to Surigao City which is the jump off point to Siargao by land. Travel time is 12 to 13 hours. So I suggest, better start your trip at 2pm so you can catch the first trip of the ferry boat to Siargao. Regular bus fare is 935php.

*For those who have a private car/van, travel time from Davao City to Surigao City is approximately 8 to 9 hours.

*For those who want a hassle free, direct flight to Siargao is now available with Philippine Airlines. This route is the most convenient but a bit expensive.

FROM BUTUAN CITY:
*Travel time from Butuan to Surigao City is approximately 3 hours.
*Regular bus fare is ranging from 230php to 250php.

Note:
*Upon arriving at Surigao City, take a tricycle to Siargao Port.
*Ferry Boat Fare to Siargao is ranging from 210php to 300php.
*Environmental Fee to Siargao is 10php



FROM MANILA and CEBU CITY:
*Flights to Siargao is available with Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific.


PLACES TO VISIT IN SIARGAO:

DAY 1 ♥ (Island Hopping)

Guyam Island


Guyam is one of the three popular islands that are visited in Siargao. It is the smallest yet still appealing for swimming.

Entrance Fee: 10php/head

Daku Island


The biggest among the three Island destination in Siargao is Daku Island. The beach has cottages and coconut trees where you can enjoy the Island vibe and take some rest. It is also the perfect place to have lunch during Island Hopping. You can bring your own cooked food or you can buy raw food at Boulevard Market and have it cooked in the Island for 50php per kilo.

Entrance Fee: None
Docking Fee: 100php
Cottage Fee: 250php

Naked Island

Getting almost naked in Naked Island! πŸ˜‚

No cottages and coconut trees in this Island, just the fine white sand and the crystal clear water. Best place to get a sun tan. πŸ˜‰

Entrance Fee: None

NOTE:
*Boat Rental to Tri-Island good for 5 to 6 pax is ranging from 1300php to 1500php.
*If you include Sohoton in your Island Hopping, it will cost you 4000php.
*You can find the boat for Island Hopping at General Luna Boulevard
*Market is also located at Boulevard, so you can buy fresh seafoods and have it cook in Daku Island.

DAY 2 ♥ (Surfing + Land Tour)

The Famous Boardwalk in Cloud9

Don't know how to surf? No problem! You don't need to be an expert to brave the waves in Cloud9, Siargao. Surfing instructors are out there to teach you how to experience riding the waves and surf like a pro. πŸ‘Œ


If it scares you and excites you at the same time, it might be a good time to try! πŸ‘ŒπŸ„


Surfing Board rental with Instructor: 500 php/head for 1 hour
Surfing Board only: 350php

Note:
Entrance Fee at Boardwalk, Cloud9 is 50php. If you go there early in the morning, the entrance fee is free. Great! Right? πŸ˜‚


Magpupungko Rock Pool



Magpupungko is also a must see in Siargao Island. The place creates a natural sea pool during low tide. So make sure not to visit the place during high tide.

Entrance Fee: 50php per head

Note: The place is strictly implementing a ''no plastic policy".



Sugba Lagoon



Sugba Lagoon is worth the time and effort. The lagoon view is definitely worth seeing. It is located in Del Carmen, one hour and half away from General Luna. Here, you can do paddling, kayaking, and swimming. 

Boat Fee to Sugba Lagoon: 1600php good for 5 to 6 pax.

Entrance Fee: 50php per head

Padddleboarding and Kayaking: 300php for 1 hour.


Transportation Guide:
*Renting a motorbike is the cheapest transportation for your land tour if you know how to drive. It will only costs 350 to 500php depending on how you haggle.
*If you are in a group of 3, tricycle rental fee with driver is 1500php.
*If you are in a group of 5-6pax, tricycle rental fee with driver is 2000php. In our case, we haggled it to 1700php.
*If you have a lot of extra money, you can rent a multicab which usually costs 2500 php which is a bit pricey.
*If you are in a big group, you can take a van to tour you around Siargao. Standard fee is 3000php or more.

WHERE TO STAY?
There are a lot of accommodations in Siargao from the most affordable hostels to luxurious hotels. If you want to spend less in your accommodation, I would suggest you  to book at hostels or homestay or cheap hotels. In our case, we stayed at Cavys Homestay situated in General Luna. Price per night is only 380php per head with breakfast. Cheap right?

8:30am➡Time of Arrival at Dapa Port of Siargao
9:00am➡ETA to General Luna (early check-in)
10:30am➡Start of our Island Hopping (Guyam, Daku and Naked Island)
4:00pm➡Back to Hotel to rest
5:00pm➡Visited Cloud9 to watch the surfers and enjoy the sunset
6:30pm➡Dinner at Mama's Grill (Located at General Luna just along the highway)

July 29 (Surfing + Land Tour)

5:30am➡Wake up call
6:30am➡Surfing at Cloud9
8:00am➡ Breakfast
9:30am➡Start of Land Tour
11:00am➡ Arrived at Magpupungko Rock Pools
11:00-12:30pm➡ Lunch and Swimming
1:30pm➡Arrived at Del Carmen Tourism Office
1:50pm➡Arrived at Sugba Lagoon
*Go swimming, paddling and kayaking!
3:30pm➡Left Sugba Lagoon
5:20pm➡Arrived at Homestay
7:00pm➡Dinner again at Mama's Grill

July 30 (Departure from Siargao)
5:30am➡Left Siargao Island
